Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada requires a Thai Police Clearance from any applicant aged eighteen or older who has resided in Thailand for six consecutive months in the last ten years. FAQ
IRCC asked for a police certificate 'from every country lived in for six months' — does that include a Thai transit stay?
Only continuous residence of six months or more triggers the requirement. Frequent short business trips totalling six months do not. When in doubt we prepare a residence log alongside the PCC so the officer can rule out the requirement conclusively.
Does the PCC need to be less than three months old at IRCC upload?
IRCC accepts a Thai PCC within six months of issue for most streams; Express Entry ITAs shorten the window to whatever remains before the sixty-day response deadline. We time the Special Branch appointment to that deadline.
Is an Apostille or MFA legalisation required?
IRCC does not formally require either, but Canadian visa officers reviewing borderline files sometimes ask for authentication of the Royal Thai Police seal. We include the Apostille to remove that friction upfront.
