No — it complements it. Home-country checks (FBI, ACRO, AFP, BKA, RCMP) evidence conduct inside your country of origin; the Thai PCC evidences conduct inside Thailand during your visa-holder stay. Most immigration authorities want both when you have lived in Thailand for six or twelve months or longer.
How long does Special Branch take for a foreign applicant?
The cycle is identical to Thai nationals — seven working days on Standard, three on Express — but the intake officer will spend extra time verifying passport and visa stamps, so allocate an additional thirty minutes at the appointment.
Do LTR and Smart Visa holders receive any priority?
LTR (Long-Term Resident) and Smart Visa holders benefit from the BOI One-Stop Service Centre channel which we can activate on request; this cuts the Standard cycle to five working days without paying the Express premium.
