FAQ

Do I still need an International Driving Permit (IDP)?

The NAATI translation replaces the IDP for licence-conversion purposes. For short-term driving on a Thai licence, the IDP is still simpler — but for conversion, the NAATI translation is the required instrument.

My licence is a private car licence — what Australian class does that map to?

Thai class 2 private → Australian class C. We produce the class mapping table in the translation so the RTA officer does not have to look it up.

The Thai licence has been renewed — do I need the original or the renewal?

The renewal only. The original is superseded and the RTA officer will use the renewal date to compute your Australian licence conditions.
