Do I need to translate an expired ID card?
Yes if the expired card was the ID in use at the time of a critical event (e.g., marriage, prior visa lodgement). DHA reads identity as a timeline, not a snapshot.
Can I use my Thai passport instead of the ID card?
For DHA identity you can, but the ID card is the only document that links a person to their Thai civil registration file — required when we need to prove continuity of name across Thai-side records.
Why does the translation include the MRZ in text form?
OMARA agents scan the MRZ into case management software. A rendered text MRZ removes the OCR failure mode on scanned card photos.
